Ved Ristic Nominates - Carol Leaman
A Chartered Accountant by trade, Carol Leaman is a brilliant woman, leader and entrepreneur. Carol ran several startup companies that have been overwhelmingly successful. Her last company PostRank she sold to Google in 2011. Carol is currently the President and CEO of Axonify where she heads up the strategic direction of the rapidly growing organization. She is the 2010 Winner of the Sarah Kirke Award for Canada's Leading Female Hi-Tech Entrepreneur as well as the 2011 Winner of the Waterloo Region Intrepid Award for Entrepreneurship. Above all, Carol is a humble and kind mentor.
Carol mentors, coaches and guides young entrepreneurs in casual one on one meeting or through her commitments with numerous boards and associations.
She has donated her time to a number of organizations and boards including: Past Chair, Conestoga College Board of Governors, Electrohome Limited, PerspecSys Inc., Shad Valley International, Fakespace Systems, RSS Solutions, Active Growth Inc., Strike Face Technologies and Planned Parenthood.
Presently she is on the board of directors for Chaordix Inc., FoodBank of Waterloo Region, Communitech Technology Association, Accelerator Center, Conrad Business Entrepreneurship and Technology Center as well as the Center In The Square. Additionally, Carol is a member of the Waterloo Region BarnRaiser's council.
Despite donating tons of her time to others, Carol to this day refuses to share her secret banana bread recipe with anyone.
In addition to being a mother of two, Carol is an avid baker, artist and a patron of the arts. Her contemporary art pieces and her delicious banana bread are just some of the perks of working for her.
