Carly Kuntz is the Owner and Chief Relaxation Officer (CRO) of The Waters – An Urban Spa Retreat, a spa that has been voted the best spa in Waterloo Region Ontario since 2009.
In 2004, Carly embarked on a journey to explore, research and ultimately improve the spa services industry. She has created a new spa experience that takes the day spa industry to a new level of service and quality. Carly created a day spa in an urban setting that has an elegant, yet warm and friendly feel. Her vision for the spa began a decade ago when she realized there was a level of service lacking in the day spa industry and was determined to bring a high end "resort experience" to the day spa setting. The Waters ~ An Urban Spa Retreat brings nurturing, high quality treatments and products to its guests providing them with a true spa experience. With unique treatments inspired by therapies from around the world, Carly’s team of over 25 therapists and support staff aim to delight guests upon every visit.
Carly has always been an entrepreneur at heart and after graduating with an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1999, she had the confidence to pursue her goal of opening a world-class day spa. A certified Spa Director and mother of twins, Carly employs her business and marketing skills to run the business without performing any of the treatments – she hires only the best estheticians and registered massage therapists to work directly with spa guests. It is Carly’s skilled attention to detail, plus the dedication of her team, that has afforded The Waters with the unparalleled reputation it has today.
Carly also believes in giving back to the community and in this respect, The Waters donates over fifteen thousand dollars in spa services annually to local non-profit organizations.
In addition to the spa, Carly has now taken on a new role as publisher of a new magazine, Women of Merit. Along with two partners (other mom/entrepreneurs), Carly helped to create a vision for a publication that honours local women who have achieved professional or personal success. Women of Merit profiles these extraordinary women in an interview format aimed at showcasing who these amazing women really are. The first issue has gone to print and will be available in January 2014.
Carly also volunteers her time in the community. She and her husband started and coach a non-profit hockey program for kids called Hockey For Fun. Boys and girls, aged 8 to 11, can learn and play hockey once per week – just for fun. Carly and Mike saw a need in the community and took action to provide this service for families. Visit www.HockeyForFun.ca.
Carly also volunteers for the Women of Waterloo Region Awards honouring local "WOW" women and their mentors. She was a mentor with the Canadian Youth Business Foundation for a new, young entrepreneur with whom she continues to maintain a co-mentoring relationship today. Carly was a co-founder of a local Waterloo networking and support group for mom entrepreneurs called Momz in Biz. She is passionate about highlighting and supporting women the community. Carly is a dedicated wife, mother, volunteer and proud member of the Waterloo region business community.
The reason I nominated Carly is that she is a beautiful woman both inside and out. She is well deserving of this nomination as a leader at home, work and our community.
